ROYAL ASCOT

Tuesday 20th – Saturday 24th June 2023

The Royal Ascot is an annual five-day horse racing event held at the Ascot Racecourse in England, attended by members of the British royal family, as well as high society and celebrities from around the world. The event is renowned not only for its horse racing, but also for its fashion, with attendees dressing in their finest outfits, including elaborate hats and fascinators. The Royal Ascot is considered one of the highlights of the British social calendar and has been a tradition since the early 18th century.

Each day has a different set of races, with the highlight being the Gold Cup on Thursday, and a range of entertainment and social events taking place alongside the racing, including live music, fashion shows, and fine dining.

An unusual fact about the Royal Ascot is that there is a strict dress code for attendees, with specific guidelines for men and women, including requirements for the length of dresses, the size and style of hats, and even the color of socks and shoes. However, in recent years, the dress code has been relaxed to allow jumpsuits for women, and in 2021, for the first time, men were permitted to wear navy morning suits instead of the traditional black, reflecting a changing attitude towards fashion and style at this iconic event.
