Sextantio Santo Stefano di Sessanio

Sleep inside the stones of a medieval village

This Albergo Diffuso is an ambitious restoration project that brought a forgotten Abruzzese town back to life—with interiors faithful to tradition and a stay steeped in Slow Food philosophy.

Sextantio Albergo Diffuso is located in a fortified medical village in the mountains of Abruzzo. The village was deserted when its impoverished inhabitants left in search of work. Sextantio purchased many of the abandoned buildings and began a massive restoration project to bring the village back to life. Native objects and traditional materials were used throughout the hotel. Presently, Santo Stefano is one of Italy’s prettiest villages. Finally, it is recognized by the Slow Food movement for its sustainable agriculture, in particular its gourmet lentils.
