Borgo del Tiglio

Italy’s white wine masterwork, uncorked

Borgo del Tiglio is a cult estate in Friuli’s Collio, producing profound, long-lived white wines that have earned their place among Italy’s finest.

Borgo del Tiglio is not simply a winery—it is a masterclass in white wine, a pilgrimage site for oenophiles, and one of the most revered estates in all of Italy. Located in the rolling hills of the Friulian Collio, this small, family-run estate produces some of the country’s most complex and age-worthy whites, including benchmark expressions of Friulano and Sauvignon Blanc.

Founded by the late Nicola Manferrari, a pharmacist turned winemaking visionary, Borgo del Tiglio has become a symbol of excellence through a rare combination of scientific precision, artisanal craftsmanship, and reverence for terroir. Manferrari’s thoughtful, low-intervention methods and obsession with detail produced iconic wines that express structure, salinity, and grace over time. The cellar is modest, the production small, and yet the wines—particularly the famed Ronco della Chiesa, a 30-year-old Friulano vineyard, and the intellectual, age-worthy Studio di Bianco, a blend of Friulano, Sauvignon Blanc, and Riesling Italico—are legends.

Visiting Borgo del Tiglio is an intimate, almost spiritual experience. There is no grand show, no curated theater—just vineyard views, soft-spoken knowledge, and unforgettable wines poured quietly but confidently. It’s an appointment for those who understand that true luxury lies in the rare and the real.

A sacred stop for white wine lovers where elegance, intensity, and terroir speak in every glass.
