Five Villages, Endless Charm
Cinque Terre invites travelers to slow down and savor the simple pleasures of life. Wander through cobblestone streets, sip a glass of local wine, hike the dramatic coastal trails, and indulge in freshly caught seafood by the harbor. Whether you’re soaking in the sunset at Vernazza or swimming in the crystal-clear waters of Monterosso, the magic of Cinque Terre is felt in every moment.

The Cinque Terre is a string of five centuries-old fishing villages perched high on the Italian Riviera in the region of Liguria. Colorful homes and vineyards cling to steep terraces. The coastline is beautiful and the harbors are filled with fishing boats. In addition, the trattorias turn out seafood specialties along with the region’s famous pesto sauce.
The best way to experience one of the most popular destinations in Italy is to hike along the scenic coastline. Accordingly, make sure to explore all five villages: Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. The journey offers wonderful glimpses of unique terraced farms and coastal forests. In addition, the sunsets in all of the villages are unforgettable.
Since the 2011 floods, many of the walking paths have been in a delicate state and prone to periodic or permanent closure. Always check with the Cinque Terre National Park office before you set out.
