Once a private royal garden, the Tuileries now welcomes all with its manicured paths, fountains, and sculpture-lined lawns. It’s a favorite place to pause between the Louvre and Place de la Concorde.
Originally intended for the exclusive use of the royal family and court, it was opened to “respectable” folks as a place for strolling under the reign of Louis XIV. During the French Revolution the general public could finally enjoy the new “national” garden…very formal and very French. Enjoy a stroll in the Tuileries while simultaneously taking in the open air sculpture museum.
