Saint-Tropez’s most famous dessert
The cream is a secret. The experience? Iconic. Try the original at Place des Lices for the ultimate sweet souvenir.

The Tarte Tropézienne, a beloved Saint-Tropez specialty, is as legendary as the town itself. Created in 1955 by Alexandre Micka, a Polish baker who moved to the French Riviera, the dessert quickly rose to fame after Brigitte Bardot fell in love with it during the filming of And God Created Woman. Bardot herself suggested the name, forever tying the tart to Saint-Tropez’s glamorous image.
This decadent treat consists of a brioche base, delicately split and filled with a rich, creamy custard. The exact recipe, however, remains a closely guarded secret. While many have tried to replicate it, only the original Tarte Tropézienne bakery knows the precise blend of ingredients that gives the cream its velvety texture and the brioche its light, buttery finish.
