Where Havana’s most prized cigars come to life
Now operating from a new site in Central Havana, Partagás continues to handcraft cigars using the same storied traditions that made it world famous.
Just as the Eiffel Tower defines Paris and the Taj Mahal embodies India, the original Partagás Real Fabrica de Tabacos stood as an emblem of Havana’s cigar legacy. Its iconic orange-and-red façade was a beacon for aficionados around the globe. Today, that legacy continues at the new Partagás Factory, a cream-colored stucco building located in Central Havana. While the move was necessitated by the aging condition of the original structure, the new home offers a fresh chapter for one of Cuba’s most cherished cigar brands.
Step inside, and you’re greeted by a soaring atrium framed by intricate wrought iron bannisters and a massive Cuban flag draped proudly across the elevator shaft. The rolling floor, staffed by over 200 skilled workers, buzzes with the creation of premium cigars like La Gloria Cubana and Ramon Allones. Though the space is modernized—with steel plates replacing wooden ones for better humidity control—the age-old traditions, such as the lector reading news and novels aloud to workers, remain unchanged.

Insider Insight
To visit the new Partagás Factory in Central Havana, you’ll need tickets, which can be purchased on-site or through a local tour operator. Booking in advance is highly recommended, as the factory is a must-visit for cigar enthusiasts and can get quite busy, especially during peak tourist seasons. Guided tours allow you to explore the rolling floor and gain insights into the meticulous cigar-making process. However, access to areas like the leaf sorting and packing rooms is restricted to maintain strict temperature and humidity controls. Ask your guide to point out the lector’s chair, and stop by the shop afterward for cigars unavailable outside Cuba.
From leaf to legend—this is the soul of the Cuban cigar.
